Dan Ostler (who goes by the more formal Daniel W. Ostler because it
is, to date, unique on the internet) graduated in Biophysics from the University
of Waterloo and pursued a career in medical radiation physics. Working in the
areas of forefront research and product design, Dan had a ringside seat to the
immergence of modern diagnostic radiology technologies as well as laser surgery.
Now retired, cruising is the order of the day, and no event is anticipated with
more enthusiasm than boarding a ship bound for new adventures.
An enthusiastic proponent of adult education, Dan is a past board
member and program chair of the Bluewater Association for Lifelong Learning. His
interest in the way things work in the world of nature and the effect of these
interactions on the course of history has given rise to the Connecting the Dots lecture series he presents internationally.
Dan and Donna (The Star Lady) are perennial shipboard favorites
and have presented entertaining informative lectures on cruises all over the
world including Europe, South America, Africa, the South Pacific, and the Far
East. When not cruising, Dan is a personality at major international amateur
astronomy events like Starfest and holds forth as lead trumpet in the local
